Chris '08 and Erica '11 Morgan of Wixom, Michigan were at the Downtowner for alumni registration. They were hitting the parade and cardboard boat races, in addition to some mountain biking and football and hockey games.
Homecoming had the campus and community hopping with enough events to satisfy everyone.
Some new items were added: pasty throwing looked like fun (mini-pasties, of course), Live Band Karaoke (it's always interesting to see what students sing today), and Ft. Wilkins interpreters on campus (real old school).
Friday featured alumni registration at the Downtowner (pictured) before the parade made it's way through downtown to Houghton beach for a pep rally and the cardboard boat races. The Alumni Association had chili at the beach. That night, the hockey Huskies came from 3-0 deficit to beat American International.
Saturday's football game was heartbreak city. The Huskies came back several times, finally tying Saginaw Valley late in the game to send it into overtime. There, the Cardinals hit a chipshot field goal to win 44-41. A great crowd was on hand in balmy, breezy conditions.
The latest class of Hall of Famers were feted later Saturday before the hockey game.
The hockey Huskies looked good, defeating American International again, 3-1. Another nice crowd, too, and the Alumni Association had a skybox with food and refreshments.
By the time the Alumni Cup broomball game ended late Saturday night, we were exhausted by an action-packed weekend!
See you next year.

Okay, you were right.
"I did a Harbor run, and the colors were great there, too."
Sherman Field was almost past perfect.
"Nice crowd, too. And how about the 80s during the weekend?"
The temperature or the alumni?
"Both. And you can hear that football cannon out past the Pilgrim River."
Did you do the cardboard boats?
"I'm not a skipper or a dipper."
Still time to see color?
"They better hurry."
