Bringing recognition to Raymond L. Smith is like bringing copper to the Keweenaw. The richness of this man and his accomplishments are sufficient unto themselves.

Raymond Smith was president of Michigan Tech from 1965 to 1979. He led the institution to incredible growth in buildings, enrollment, curriculum, and stature. Under his leadership, dedication, and vision, Michigan Tech became a major national university.

We salute him for showing us how to strive and achieve.

He is a friend for all time as we endeavor to live up to his legacy, which is based on a bed of ore and a dream of greatness.

His inspiration is invaluable.
