DRAGONBALL: EVOLUTION (PG for intense action & violence, some profanity)

James Wong directs of cast of mixed nationalities in a script based on a Japanese manga that takes us on a fantasy trip for 95-minutes of laughably hokey dialog, special effects, surround sound, ludicrous costumes & makeup, and silly, even childish, gobbledygook about a good guy trying to obtain all seven mystical spheres that will thwart an evil warlord and save the world from immanent destruction. Halfway through, one couldn't care less. But, wow, the special effects people have center stage! All flash without substance.

The movie is cliché-ridden from start to finish - floundering from one uninspired scene to the next. I can't imagine who might find it thrilling and inventive, not for an instant.

Grade: F
